After an open ended survey with 10 translators and 10 interpreters here is the following: One has to understand and think very broadly that there is a lot of difference between Translator and Interpreter. In reality there is a vast difference among translators and interpreters and in their skills requirement also so as to do job effectively. On some basic level it seems quite similar i.e. one service translates spoken words while the other one translates written words. Translator must be well versed with the target language, words, phrases and grammar part; moreover they are having leverage of timings, referral materials and minimum pressures. Interpreters have the potential to translate spoken words with all their expertise and knowledge without using any resource and reference material; moreover they are required to be at clients’ place so as to remove the language barrier immediately. The pressure is very high on interpreters as compare to translators. They are required to act as a bridge between people and able to make people understand their intentions and emotions as well for each other. At last we can say that both Interpreters and Translators are two important pillars for the Linguist Industry. www.lingvopedia.com
