Chris Mastaler cgmgolf@nc.rr.com John Daly - Returning to the PGA Tour in Late May Augusta - It has been three years since John Daly competed in the Masters, but that hasn't stopped him from making the trip to Augusta. The two-time Major Champion, who turns 43 later this month, once again was signing autographs and selling merchandise on Washington Road from his RV. There was a difference this year: A thinner Daly says he has shed 40 lbs. after having lap-band stomach surgery in February. Daly claims to be on a high-protein diet that has helped him drop from XXXL to XL after ballooning to 280 lbs. Meanwhile, Daly is working with instructor Rick Smith and plans to play on the European Tour later this month before returning to the PGA Tour in late May upon finishing a self-described six-month suspension by the tour. Daly is eyeing a comeback at the Crowne Plaza event at Colonial. In other news: Endorsement deal between Wie, Sony comes to an end - Michelle Wie, who in 2006 made nearly $20 million in endorsements and appearance fees, is finding out that performance needs to live up to potential for the checks to continue rolling in. According to multiple sources, SONY has ended its relationship with Wie, which was valued at $ 5 Million a year!
