Acupuncture Chinese Moxibustion - The Chinese Way to Health

By: George Peters

If you are into alternative health methods, then you may have heard about the Chinese moxibustion method. However, how does it work?

To enhance the curative effects of needle acupuncture, fire acupuncture is also used. They are both 2 useful methodologies in curing illnesses, and they are frequently used together to enhance the curing of illnesses.

And so, we come to understand that acupuncture Chinese moxibustion refers to curing of illnesses with fire. As such, the Chinese name for acupuncture - Zhen Jiu - has the Jiu referring to fire acupuncture.

There are many famous legends pertaining to acupuncture and moxibustion. Two of the frequently quoted ones are Fu Xi creation of the therapeutic stone needles, and Huang Di invention of moxibustion and acupuncture.

If you were like me, you may find it hard to believe that the acupuncture Chinese moxibustion method was in a way founded by a housewife. As she was cooking, she found her aches not being as painful as before. The heat from the stove had somehow relief her of her pain. Since this Eolithic age, this method has evolved and herbs with medical properties were added to smoke the body back to normal health.

In moxibustion, the common methods used are moxa cone and cupping. The basic idea is the usage of a glass jar to cover a body part and to allow it to suck the body by putting fire in the jar.

As in cupping, the moxa cone was also used for the same effect. As explained, the fire in the jar forces the air to heat up and leaves the jar since hot air rises. This results in a powerful almost vacuum like space in the jar which causes the jar to suck the body. This impact, although results in some pain, is especially powerful in stimulating blood flow. Moreover, the internal organs also benefit from some sort of massage.

One of the key factors that decide the efficacy or effectiveness of the acupuncture Chinese moxibustion is the positioning of the thick glass jar. As you probably know, another important factor of acupuncture is the acupuncture points or meridian points of the body. As such, the jar must be placed according to the points whereby the illness is supposed to be healed.

Sometimes, medicinal herbs as well as ginger and mashed garlic are added for the treatment. Typically, the jar will cup the body for about 15 to 20 minutes. Moreover, the treatment has to be conducted over a period of time.

Since the ancient times, the acupuncture Chinese moxibustion technologies have improved. During modern times, potential equipment setup include acupoint injection, acupoint magnetotherapy, electronic needle moxibustion and microwave needle moxibustion.
